Industrial cleaning services in Australia
Published Australian rates for factory, warehouse and industrial cleaning, what the work covers, and how to get comparable quotes.
Industrial cleaning in Australia covers factories, warehouses and processing plants: work that is scoped differently to a standard office or retail clean. Published rates put factory cleaning at $100 to $400 per session and warehouse cleaning at $50 to $300 per session, both typically running 2 to 5 hours, with general industrial cleaning quoted at $100 to $250 per session.
Those figures only mean something next to what the same source publishes for every other type of commercial site it prices, and next to what the work itself actually involves. Both are below.

What industrial cleaning actually covers
Under "What is Included", Merfield Group, a Sydney industrial cleaner, lists nine services. The table below reproduces those nine tasks, plus what to confirm for each one before you accept a quote.
| Task | What it covers | What to confirm in a quote |
|---|---|---|
| Factory floor cleaning | Cleaning and maintaining factory floors, removing grime, residue and debris. | Whether this is a routine sweep and mop, or extends to stripping and resealing a sealed floor coating. |
| Warehouse cleaning | Cleaning floor areas, loading docks and racking zones to keep a warehouse clear and safe. | Whether racking and loading-dock areas are priced in, not just open floor space. |
| Machinery cleaning | Cleaning around and beneath equipment to remove grease and dust buildup without disrupting operations. | Whether machinery needs to be powered down or isolated for the clean, and who arranges that. |
| High-level cleaning | Elevated rafters, beams, ducting and shelving that accumulate debris in industrial environments. | The access method (ladder, scissor lift, boom lift) and whether it's priced as part of the session or as an extra. |
| Industrial vacuuming | Extracting fine dust, particles and dry waste from floors and hard-to-reach zones. | Whether the same visit bags the collected dust for disposal, or leaves that for a separate waste-removal task. |
| Pressure washing | Concrete floors, external yards and hard surfaces, to remove stubborn grime and contamination. | Which surfaces are included, and whether any chemical treatment is a separate line item. |
| Degreasing services | Applying industrial-strength degreasers to break down oil and grease buildup. | What product is used, and whether it's suited to your floor surface and drainage. |
| Spill cleanup | Responding to chemical and liquid spills, containing and cleaning the affected area to full WHS compliance. | Whether spill response is included in the standard scope, or only available as a separate call-out. |
| Waste removal | Managing industrial waste removal, including dry waste and packaging debris. | Whether waste removal is included in the base price, or billed separately by load. |
Nine tasks from Merfield Group's published "What is Included" list. The "what to confirm" column is our own buyer guidance based on these tasks, not part of the cited source.

The equipment behind the work
The same provider's published fleet includes ride-on scrubbers, sweepers and wet-dry vacuum systems built for large-scale industrial floor cleaning, plus commercial high-pressure washers rated for grime, grease and contamination on concrete, metal and external surfaces.

Signs a site needs industrial-scope cleaning
Not every commercial site needs the same crew or equipment. These signals point to industrial rather than standard commercial cleaning:
- Production residue on the floor or surfaces (oil, grease, dust, swarf) that a mop and a standard vacuum will not lift.
- Cleaning has to happen around machinery that is running or has recently stopped.
- Structures above head height (racking, rafters, ducting) have not been cleaned in a while and are shedding debris.
- A spill or contamination event needs documented, WHS-compliant cleanup rather than a general wipe-down.
- The site is regularly inspected against a workplace hygiene standard a domestic-grade clean cannot demonstrate.
Getting a comparable quote
Ask what the session price actually covers before comparing numbers. Every time. A $100 quote and a $400 quote for the same "factory cleaning" line item can describe very different jobs: one a floor sweep and surface wipe, the other a full high-level dust removal with pressure washing and machinery detailing included.
The same principle applies here as when choosing a builders clean contractor: get the scope in writing, and confirm the crew has actually worked industrial sites rather than office or retail cleaning alone. If the quote comes from a commercial cleaning company that also runs a construction division, vetting a cleaner's construction division covers what to check about that setup specifically.
